Podcast // The Adelaide Rally’s Tim Possingham
Adelaide’s Tim Possingham has been involved in the motorsport industry for his entire career, and now runs the famous Adelaide Rally. Tim joined us and spoke about his early days of modifying and racing rotaries (and how they’d throw away stock interior trim bits from RX3s and 4s…. oh, the horror today!), and how that morphed into a workshop called RPM Performance and a global distributorship for Microtech engine management systems. Creating training materials and event promotions kicked off Tim’s marketing and events consultancy, and since he’s worked at the forefront of the industry in Australia, and was responsible for the rebirthed Classic Adelaide Rally, the Adelaide Motorsport Festival and the Adelaide Rally. Ahead of this year’s Adelaide Rally, Tim also delved into deep detail about the challenges of running these events, ranging from council approvals, resident relations and food prep. And just sometimes, Tim finds time to get behind the wheel of his Evo 8 rally car, competing where possible. For those interested in the business side of motorsport or the intricacies of holding tarmac rally events, it’s a fascinating chat.
